Did you get your Linked In Data Breach notice?

LinkedIn Data Breach

Notice of Data Breach

You may have heard reports recently about a security issue involving LinkedIn. We would like to make sure you have the facts about what happened, what information was involved, and the steps we are taking to help protect you.

What Happened?

On May 17, 2016, we became aware that data stolen from LinkedIn in 2012 was being made available online. This was not a new security breach or hack. We took immediate steps to invalidate the passwords of all LinkedIn accounts that we believed might be at risk. These were accounts created prior to the 2012 breach that had not reset their passwords since that breach.

So many of us use this online networking tool! When the “World’s Largest Professional Network” is infiltrated by cyber thieves it is another good time to check your business insurance coverage.

If you are a business owner or a controller at a business, review these three questions with your insurance provider.

  1. Is my business covered for the expenses of a data breach if my business has a breach?
The breach cost of each stolen record is estimated at $150 per record!
  2. Does my business store or transmit credit card information?
Cyber thieves are utilizing computers to hijack electronic credit card transmissions.
  3. Does my business have protection for Computer Fraud and Funds Transfer Fraud?
Bangladesh Central Bank found $100 million missing after a weekend.

As with any business you select your insurance coverage and you decide if you want the coverage. We know that not all businesses need Cyber Liability and Data Breach coverage. We at Herlihy Insurance Group just like to make sure our businesses know what they selected and they had the option to add a coverage that was relevant.

Questions on what is covered on your business insurance? Ask us! And maybe you want to take advantage of our SHRED IT day June 18, 2016. Contact us for more info.

Small Business Week

Last week Fuller Automotive in Auburn brought in lunch for our very appreciative staff members. Nothing like a free lunch to remind businesses of your excellent services.

As a family owned and operated business since 1914, Fuller Automotive is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of customer service to you! With three different specialty shops conveniently located in Auburn, the Fuller Automotive staff is ready to service your auto repair, auto body repair, and tire needs. If your vehicle breaks down, was just involved in an accident, or requires a Massachusetts State Inspection Sticker, one call to Fuller’s does it all.

This week our agency returned the food favor today and dropped off cookies and brownies for the Fuller staff.

Herlihy Insurance Group Celebrates National Small Business Week!

Posted on: May 6th, 2016 by Herlihy Insurance Group No Comments

Chances are if you are reading this you may be employed by a small business. In Massachusetts it is estimated that 1.4 million of us work at small businesses.

We at Herlihy Insurance Group wanted to take a moment to celebrate a few small businesses this week. Our staff visited a few of these and here is a recap of our visits!

Crown Bakery and Café
133 Gold Star Blvd, Worcester

There is quite a bit to say about this small business. It starts with my memories of waiting in line with my father to get the “Parker House” rolls. This was always a holiday tradition. We have moved on from just getting rolls to also bringing in pastries and other sweets to our staff. These are always well received and delicious.

A quick story about this small business… one afternoon I went it to buy some pastries for a friend. The woman working there asked me what they were for and I explained that they were going to be dropped off for a relative in the hospital. With that she quickly said, ” I knew there was something wrong. Here I have some more things for you”.

With that she filled up a bag of food and refused to take payment for them.

I will always remember this small business’s kindness on that day. For me this is a perfect example of what makes a successful small business. AND every thing in there is delicious! Check it out!
