Financial Spring Cleaning
This spring as we may be working in our yards, garages, and emptying our closets, a friend of mine recently shared a funny fact.
My friend was cleaning out his “financial things” and organizing all the financial things that grownups do.
“I guess it is time to take Betty off as my 401k beneficiary,” he shared. I struggled to hold back my laughter on that one. You see Betty was a fiancé that he never married and has not spoken to in over ten years.
(At this point, I am really hoping my friend does not read this. OOPS)
I simply said, “Yes, that would be a good idea.”
That conversation got me to thinking — have I updated all of my financial beneficiary documents lately? Do they all have the correct information listed on them?
As life happens, things do change. The people, the places, the stuff we have, and what we want to do with things may change as well.
So this spring cleaning , don’t forget to delete Betty!
Unless of course, you still want her on those forms!
