Driving Trends That Make Us Think Again
We were saddened to see the National Safety Council Trends for driving in the US.
- 2010: 35,332 deaths—1.19 per 100 million miles driven
- 2014: 35,398 deaths—1.17 per 100 million miles driven
- 2021: 46,980 deaths—1.50 per 100 million miles driven
And more recent data shows that from 2018 to 2022, the number of deadly automobile accidents rose more than 16 percent.
Why do we think this information is worth sharing?
This data reminds us that driving a car can still be very be dangerous. With improved airbags and technology, such as blindside mirrors, lane assist, smart cruise control, and forward collision warning, we may think that the roads we drive are safer… but this data shows a different story.
