Nanny or Manny for your Home? They both work!
Whether you are going to your place of business or “remoting” when you have young children, someone does have to care for the kids!
Since many of my kids’ friends are now facing the childcare challenge, I am hearing lots of stories about schedules, drop-offs, pickups and indentured relatives. It should be noted that the “indentured relatives” are very happy participants.
A few of these young families have decided to hire their own Nanny or Manny. As with any plan for childcare, there are some insurance considerations to be considered.
I know childcare challenges are difficult enough without talking about insurance, so we will keep this very simple!
- If you hire an individual to care for your children and you are paying them in Massachusetts, Workers Compensation insurance is required
- The cost for Workers Compensation in Massachusetts for one full-time nanny is currently $225 for the year. While your nanny is working for you, this will provide him or her with coverage for medical bills and lost wages if they are injured while working as your nanny.
