Dinner Conversations at the Herlihy House: When car accidents happen…

We really do review other topics at our house, but there was a tragic car accident all over the news. It was a slippery road night in upstate New York and a car was stopped in the middle of the highway. According to reports a driver went to pass the vehicle stranded on the highway and struck and killed a pedestrian while trying to do so. By all accounts this was a truly tragic accident.

What we want all of our friends , families and clients to know is these tragic accidents do happen. Check that you have protected yourself and your family by making sure your Liability Limits are sufficient to provide you with the liability protection you need. Many people start out their policies when they are younger and neglect to check that they have selected upgraded liability limits to protect the assets they have acquired.

For most client we recommend that your Optional Bodily Injury Limits are at least $250,000 and that you have a two million dollar personal umbrella policy. Of course if you have a large number of assets you may want to consider a five to ten million dollar personal umbrella policy.
