Leaving Too Soon
The tragic passing of Kobe Bryant was a large topic of conversation at our house this past weekend.
As I am only a marginal basketball fan, I have to admit I was astounded by the reaction of Kobe’s fans, teammates, a large circle of friends, coaches, and mentees. In addition to his family and friends, it became clear to me that he touched the hearts and minds of many people.
My housemates walked me through his career and accomplishments during this past week. The media also shared many other parts of Kobe’s life and the impact his life had on others.
You may wonder, why I am talking about a basketball player?
Kobe’s untimely passing reminds me that we need to make our plans for when we are not here. None of us will be here forever.
This is not a sales pitch. Don’t buy things you don’t need, but if you need Life Insurance, get it.
Know what you have and how it works. Review your Life Insurance every 3-5 years or as you experience a life-changing event (new child, marriage, divorce, death of family member).
In general, you want to have enough life insurance coverage (when coupled with savings and income) to allow your family to continue living the lifestyle to which they’re accustomed.
This means different things to each of us.
It’s our job to figure it out.
