It’s Fall! Welcome back to traffic and things that happen……
Although it is not yet officially the first day of fall, based on all of the vehicles on the road it certainly feels like summer is over.
Every road I travel is filled with cars, trucks and construction. Not sure where all these people were or where they are going now, but they are making the roads I travel very crowded.
Thought I would share my latest road adventure on Interstate 290!
Sunday night driving about 70mph (with the traffic in the middle lane) a box truck in front of me grinds to an abrupt halt. Being the safe driver that I am, I slam on my breaks and stop safely without rear-ending the truck. As I sat there, I was very concerned that I was going to get whacked from behind! As I am trying to figure out why we are stopped, a person comes running down 290 to get his golf cart, which has fallen off his trailer and is now in the middle of route 290. Now I am worried about the guy!
After several minutes of thinking, “ I am going to get clobbered here,” and “my car is going to be demolished,” I eventually got safely around this mess. The rest of the way home I thought how lucky I was! And of course, I thought of my insurance.
If I had been hit, I do not have RENTAL coverage on my car that I really do need! That means my husband and I would have to share a car for many weeks, as car repair times are currently EXTREMELY long!
Why I am sharing my traffic story? There are more cars on the roads. There are more accidents even when you are a safe driver. Car repairs are taking a very long time at most auto repair shops.
Although I did not carry the rental coverage option on my car insurance, today I am going to add that coverage. If you need to drive your car every day and do not have a backup, you may want to do the same. Safe Driving!
